Linksight
Linksight believes in a future in which public and private parties – for example in healthcare or the social domain – jointly make the right data-driven decisions, based on shared insights, while fully preserving the privacy of citizens, patients and customers. To apply system-wide optimisations, organizations need each other's data, which is often privacy or competitively sensitive. Both sharing and receiving sensitive data is problematic. On the one hand, organizations cannot (or do not want to) share their data due to privacy legislation or due to the fear of losing control over that data. On the other hand, receiving sensitive data presents additional responsibilities, challenges and liabilities. Linksight was founded with the mission to enable data collaborations between different organizations, where they remain in control of their own data and can guarantee privacy and secrecy. We do this by introducing a new paradigm: Share insights, not data! To achieve this goal, we leverage recent breakthroughs in cryptography such as Secure Multi-Party Computation (MPC), Homomorphic Encryption (HE) and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT, blockchain). These are complex technologies that also have a strong legal component. We translate this complex technology into a decentralized platform in which public and private organizations can jointly perform privacy-by-design data analyses, in order to enable data-driven decisions.

Luo Automation
To guarantee patient safety, every single injectable medicine must be visually inspected. Therefore, hospital pharmacies and pharmaceutical companies check every vial, syringe or ampoule to make sure it’s free of defects. Defects can be contaminations such as glass or steel particles, but can also be a broken cap, a big crack or a small dent. In general, this visual inspection is done by hand. Every container must be evaluated for 10 seconds by a trained operator. For companies that produce big batches and lots of similar products (more than 5 million containers per year) it’s feasible to automate this process. To do so, expensive machinery (>2M euro) is bought, an extensive training process is started and after the installation and validation process, one or two products can be visually inspected. However, lots of companies do not produce enough containers per year to account a 2M euro investment or have a very diverse product portfolio, which makes current machinery not suitable. As a result, in Europe more than 1.2 billion containers are checked by hand. Every year. Luo tries to bridge the gap between huge, conservative and expensive machinery and the manual operation. Besides developing the hardware (machine) that is needed to gather the necessary data of every container, Luo uses different AI and Machine Learning models to analyze this data and define if the container is good or needs to be rejected. One of the key challenges in this field, is that defect data of syringes, ampoules and vials is barely available. Even if a decent defect set is available for one specific medicine in one specific container with one specific filling volume, this is not applicable on other medicines or other containers. Luo is using innovative training methods to make sure we are able to find defects the algorithm has never seen before. For the visual inspection of one container, about 8 (!) different anomaly detection models are used. These models are trained with normal data, to make sure the models are not dependent on defect data. By using these innovative models, we are able quickly adapt to new medicine or new containers. As a result, it’s feasible to automate the obligatory visual inspection for small batches or a diverse product portfolio as well. Besides saving a lot of valuable time of healthcare professionals, this increase the consistency and quality of the product and provides insights in production quality over time.
